Madinah
A calmer city, and for many travellers the most restful part of the journey. Central hotels sit within a short walk of the Haram precinct.

The precinct is generously sized, with wide marble courtyards and the large shading umbrellas that open during the day. Even at busy times it feels less pressed than the Haram in Makkah.
Visiting the Rawdah is managed through a timed permit system, booked in advance through the official Nusuk app, with separate times for men and women. We'll remind you to arrange it before you travel.
Prayer areas for women are extensive and clearly signposted, with their own entrances on the eastern and western sides. If prayer-area access is important to your household, it's worth weighting hotel choice toward the relevant side of the precinct.

Madinah is simpler than Makkah. Hotels ring the precinct, and the difference is mostly how long you walk and which side you're on.
Just beyond the ring road
A few minutes further on foot, usually quieter and better value, with shops and restaurants along the way.

We describe proximity qualitatively rather than quoting exact distances, since the walk depends on which gate you use.
Getting around
Short walks and short drives.
Everything central is walkable. Ziyarah sites like Quba, Uhud and Qiblatain are a short drive and usually combined into one half-day tour. The Haramain railway station sits outside the centre, with a transfer at each end.
